Several members of the Out of House Publishing team enjoyed meeting with freelance copy-editors and proofreaders. Some of those attending the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) conference have worked with Out of House for many years and it was great to meet in person.
Spending time at the conference gave us all a valuable insight into the importance of the SfEP and reminded us how crucial this community of editorial experts is to international publishing. Out of House has been a long-standing supporter of the SfEP and we are proud to have been able to contribute this year. Our session on education publishing was well attended and included an interesting discussion on how freelancers might better support education publishers.
The SfEP aims to promote high editorial standards whilst upholding the professional status of editors and proofreaders. SfEP events and networking opportunities provide valuable support for freelance workers at the coal face of publishing.
We very much hope to be able to support more SfEP events and conferences in the future.
