Team Leader, Academic
Newgen Publishing is a fast-growing publishing services company based in Gloucestershire. Part of the Newgen KnowledgeWorks group we provide UK-based editorial and project management services to academic and education publishers, managing everything from concept to product delivery.
This is a permanent full-time position.

Manage a team working on a number of accounts.
Be a client-facing account manager.
Own the budget for the accounts that you manage.
Work with the production manager to develop workflows for new clients when required.
Monitor capacity within the team and raise any concerns with the production manager.
Deliver against KPIs including budget and late running.
Work closely with the books production team to ensure we’re receiving a high-quality service.
Lead on workflow efficiency and innovation within the accounts managed, ensuring profitability improves year on year.
Provide support to a team of in-house and freelance project managers, including team meetings and work returns.
Be a point of escalation for issues that either the publisher or your team may have.
Liaise with your team to ensure projects are running on time and monthly targets are met.
Attend monthly account reviews with the production manager.
Manage a small list of titles if capacity allows.
Skills, qualifications and experience
Impeccable editorial, organisational and communication skills.
At least five years’ academic publishing experience.
Line management experience preferable.
Degree-level education (publishing qualifications an advantage).
An appreciation of the commercial demands on publishers and publishing services suppliers.
An understanding of the basics of XML.
